Farewell to a Very Special Friend

Michael Lasley Hudson, a long-time member and friend of the Tennessee Society for HR Management (TN SHRM) organization, passed away December 30, 2011. Mike chaired many national and statewide educational and professional conferences, including several years with the TN SHRM State HR Conference. Mike was extremely active in many volunteer and community leadership activities including the Tennessee Valley HRA (the Knoxville-area SHRM chapter), the TN Technology Council, the Christian Women's Job Corp and was a life member of the American Technical Educational Association (ATEA). He worked tirelessly promoting industry and technical training enabling individuals to earn certification throughout the state of Tennessee. A veteran of the US Air Force, he graduated from UT with a Master of Science and worked for Pellissippi State Community College for 40 years where he served as Director of Certificate Programs and Director of Special Projects. He received the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development 2012 Excellence Award and is a recipient of the Tennessee Society for HR Management’s James House Williamson Award among many other professional honors. His talents and tireless contributions will be greatly missed by his friends at TN SHRM.
TN SHRM will be making a donation to the Thompson Cancer Survival Center in his honor.
